Hi, I’m Talia!

I’m a cognitive & behavioral neuroscience major at the University of British Columbia. I bring together science, design, and communication to lead projects that are both data-informed and human-centered.

What sets me apart is my ability to take complex ideas and deliver them as engaging, accessible products. Whether it’s through brand strategy or story-driven solutions, I love collaborating across disciplines.

Feel free to contact me, I’d love to hear from you!

My Design Journey

Background

I’ve been performing and storytelling for as long as I can remember—even dedicating half my school day in high school to a theater program. Through these experiences, I’ve cultivated a deep passion for expressing ideas through narratives and sharing my creations with others.

These are cards I made for a neuroanatomy project on reward/addiction pathways in the brain.

Education

While pursuing my neuroscience degree I fell in love with understanding how people think. I learned how to design experiments, organize data, and communicate ideas clearly. I explored coding through HTML, CSS, Python, R, and C++, which opened up an entirely new way for me to build and create.

Since then, I’ve applied both the technical and human-centered sides of my learning as a volunteer instructor with Canada Learning Code and as a STEM camp leader, helping beginners bring their first projects to life.

Leadership

Not only am I exploring in my classes, but I have also gained a lot of experience through my extracurriculars. I love being involved in various communities around campus and beyond.

As VP Marketing for the AMS Muay Thai Club, an On-Camera Personality and Producer for the UBC Science Undergraduate Society, and a Content Creator for The Bright Doctor, I’ve reached over 1,000,000 viewers with dynamic, data-informed content. I also served as Creative Director for TEDxUBC, leading all creative decisions and guiding a team of 15 to deliver a cohesive website and brand presence. These roles strengthened my ability to analyze trends and craft engaging narratives, and I was honoured to receive an Outstanding Leadership Award from the Neuroscience program in recognition of this work.

Career

My first internship was at Aritzia in the project management office. I supported brand strategy by conducting competitive research and identifying opportunities to strengthen our market position in emerging areas of business. I also developed project-tracking systems that kept cross-functional teams aligned, ensuring projects stayed connected to business goals and the broader brand vision. Working in fashion taught me how to balance both science and creativity to deliver effective business solutions.

One of my favorite experiences was joining the digital product design team for a weekly brainstorm, where we had just 20 minutes to design a new feature for the Aritzia website.

My second intern role is Marketing Coordination at Kabam Games, where I managed marketing campaigns from start to finish. I collaborated on brand strategy and ensured all assets met brand, legal, and IP guidelines, working closely with stakeholders including Marvel.

One of my proudest experiences was supporting Summoners Fest, Kabam’s largest community event. Alongside the marketing team, we welcomed over 350 guests and volunteers, reached 70,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch and YouTube, and exceeded two million total views, more than double our target. This experience taught me how to deliver high-impact campaigns that connect audiences, stakeholders, and brand vision.

Where I am now

I’m on the second term of my 4-term co-op program, building a career in brand strategy.

I bring a strong foundation in tools like Figma, Adobe Fresco, Lightroom, and Canva, along with experience in data visualization, statistical analysis, and user research. As an Asana Certified project manager, I’ve led cross-functional teams, managed timelines, and coordinated end-to-end project execution from initial research to final delivery.

I want to continue telling stories and creating designs with meaning.
